Corruption of the ruling line by a Ring of Power
Corruption of the Ruling Line by a Ring of Power
After Borlan I’s death, the ruling line of Lethrain began to falter. Generations of peace left the kingdom vulnerable to darker influences. The rulers, once strong and independent, grew more ambitious and sought greater power. It was during this time that Sauron’s emissaries returned, offering one of the Nine Rings of Power to a descendant of Borlan.
The ruler, seduced by the promise of strength and immortality, accepted the ring. At first, the power it granted seemed to bolster Lethrain, with the ruler gaining heightened strength, wisdom, and foresight. But slowly, the ring’s dark influence began to take hold. The ruler became obsessed with control, his mind clouded by paranoia, and his once wise decisions turned tyrannical. Shadows crept into the halls of Itharil, and the once-proud kingdom began to fracture.
Under the ring’s influence, the ruler became more isolated, mistrusting even his closest allies and family. Whispers of the ruler’s strange behavior and long, sleepless nights spread through the kingdom. Fear and discontent grew, as the people of Lethrain sensed something unnatural was at work.
Eventually, the ruler began to fade, both physically and spiritually, as the Ring of Power consumed his soul. This descent marked the beginning of Lethrain’s collapse. The capital of Itharil, once a beacon of hope, became a dark and haunted place, and the kingdom’s strength dwindled. Over time, Lethrain’s lands were abandoned, and the kingdom was forgotten, left to decay into ruin.
Thus, the ruler of Lethrain was bound to Sauron’s will, becoming one of the Nazgûl. Lethrain’s legacy, once of peace and independence, was forever tainted by the corruption of the Ring of Power.
