The Rise of Borlan I
The Rise of Borlan I
Around the middle of the Second Age, the region that would become Lethrain was wild and divided. Borlan, born among its nomadic clans, became known for his cunning and charisma. He ended their feuds, united them as one people, and founded the kingdom of Lethrain.
Founding of Itharil: Borlan’s greatest achievement was Itharil, a fortified city built on cliffs overlooking the river Lithon. Under his rule, Lethrain prospered through trade and alliances while remaining neutral in the greater conflicts of Middle-earth.
The Lethrain Rangers: Borlan established an order of rangers to protect the kingdom’s borders. They became symbols of Lethrain’s vigilance and independence, defending its settlements against Orcs and other dangers from the Misty Mountains.
Dark temptation: Borlan rejected promises of power from Sauron’s servants. Generations after his death, however, his descendant Borlan Thornfall II accepted one of the Nine Rings after Sauron recovered them in the war against the Elves.
Borlan I’s rule established an enduring realm. Its decline did not begin with his death, but generations later with the corruption of Borlan II.
