Darethor Thornfall, a descendant of the lost kingdom of Lethrain, grew up trained as a ranger, learning survival skills from his father. But his family’s history carried a darker legacy. One of his ancestors had fallen under Sauron’s influence, becoming one of the Nazgûl.

During a quest to reclaim his heritage, Darethor discovered an ancient sword connected to his ancestor's cursed Ring. Upon touching it, the sword seared his hand, leaving a jagged, black-and-red scar that glows faintly near evil. With this burn came a dark infection, lightly tethering him to the power of the Ringwraiths. He began to experience visions, hearing whispers from the shadow world and sensing the presence of dark forces.

Though he now possesses heightened perception, Darethor constantly battles against the ring’s influence, struggling to keep his humanity intact. The scar serves as both a warning and a weapon, a painful reminder of his bloodline’s curse. Known as the "Shadow of Lethrain," he wanders Middle-earth, using his abilities to hunt down evil forces while seeking a way to sever the cursed bond with the Ringwraiths, fearing that one day he may fall entirely to its corruption.

While tracking the orc Gorbad across Rohan, Darethor meets Ulfrik, a warrior of Rohan also pursuing Gorbad. The two form an alliance, blending Darethor’s stealth with Ulfrik’s combat expertise. As they hunt, Darethor’s scar begins to burn whenever orcs are near, alerting him to their presence. The dark magic of his cursed scar heightens his senses, helping them close in on their target as they navigate Rohan’s vast plains. Their journey is one of grit and trust as they work to stop Gorbad's terror.
